- Try changing the HTML such that there is a single <pre> around each diff, and
  each block within these is a <span>.  Then, use CSS to 'swap' the whitespace
  formatting for these so that in a CSS compliant agent, it will look the same
  as currently, and hopefully there won't be gaps in agents that display a
  blank line between <pre> and other content.
